Biodiversity data ManagerWhat is BioMa? BioMa is a specimen based Biodiversity data Manager. It is designed to store, organize, and manipulate biodiversity-related scientific data, either for the purposes of museums, scientific collections, or research projects. BioMa is designed to manage all biological information gattered in biological research projects, by individual researchers, teams, or both! BioMa is specimen-based. That means: any information stored needs to be linked to an specimen. Group of specimens collected from the same place, at the same date, by the same person, form a collection. One or several collections are linked to a locality. Localities are self-recursive: you can define localities within localities (e.g. points whithin quadrats within transects within sites within regions within countries). BioMa can manage projects. Several specimens can be grouped together under a single "umbrella", forming a project. A project is assigned to a principal researcher, who collected the specimens alone or with the help of other researcher(s). Several projects may composed a bigger project. Projects are also self-recursive: you can create projects within projects (project-subproject structure). |
